Student Registration

Each term, you must enter the CAESAR web portal using your NetID to register for your classes. Before starting this process, view this registration guide for step-by-step instructions on how to register.

All registration policies and deadlines are published in the Counseling@Northwestern student handbook located in 2NU.

Holds

If you fail to meet certain university requirements, a hold may be placed on your account, preventing you from registering for classes.

There are many possible account holds, but the most common ones are:

  • Financial (outstanding bills)
  • Departmental (academic progress)
  • Missing emergency contact information

You can view holds on your account in CAESAR. Penalties for having a hold on your account include:

  • Registration to be canceled, prevented, or delayed
  • Diplomas or transcripts to be held
  • Enrollment or degrees to be unconfirmed

You also may be liable for any costs associated with collection of your unpaid bills, including, but not limited to, collection agency costs, court costs, and legal fees.

Contact student support if you have questions about clearing a hold on your account.

Student Handbook

All program and registration policies are published in the Counseling@Northwestern student handbook. These policies are subject to change.

Schedule of Classes

You can find the complete schedule of classes in the registration document distributed by student support. This will be made available by the day you register for classes.
