Welcome to Counseling@Northwestern
The Graduate School and The Family Institute at Northwestern University created Counseling@Northwestern to bring a Northwestern education to students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend on campus.
Counseling@Northwestern’s focus on education in the psychodynamic perspective and clinical field experience provides a counselor training program unlike any other.
Clinical Field Placement
One of the cornerstones of the Counseling@Northwestern program is an emphasis on clinical training, including two full years of work at quality clinical sites near the students’ communities. This unique “learn-by-doing” model molds highly prepared, exceptional mental health counselors.
Live Online Classes
Students meet for weekly classes in the Counseling@Northwestern online classroom. The interactive classroom allows for lively face-to-face discussions with your classmates and professors, breakout sessions, and presentations.
Counseling@Northwestern's self-paced online coursework is accessible on your computer and mobile devices through our mobile app. Offline mode allows you to complete coursework on the go, with or without an Internet connection.
The Counseling@Northwestern campus can be accessed anywhere, online or offline, via your computer or mobile device. Its interactive capabilities allow you to get to know fellow classmates, talk with professors in between class sessions, and host study groups.
