* The U.S. Department of Education deducts origination fees from each federal loan disbursement. For information on loan origination fees visit the Interest Rates and Fees page of the Federal Student Aid website.

** All students must maintain health insurance that meets the University’s standards. You will have the opportunity to waive the NU Student Health Plan via CAESAR if you have other comparable coverage. Students enrolled in the fall quarter will be billed for the annual premium amount ($4,386) in the fall quarter (for coverage from September 1 through August 31). Students admitted in subsequent quarters will be charged a pro-rated premium amount based on the number of quarters of coverage remaining.

The Graduate School covers 65 percent of the cost of the NU Student Health Plan for Counseling@Northwestern students enrolled full time (3-4 credits). Students enrolled less than full time are responsible for the entire cost of the NU Student Health Plan.

Financial Aid

US citizens and permanent residents have multiple options for financial aid, including federal loans, grants, and program scholarships. We encourage applicants to apply for financial aid at the same time they submit their application to Northwestern.

Immersions

Counseling@Northwestern students are required to attend two in-person immersions during their time in the program. The immersions are held in Illinois, and are required in order to complete the program. There are some additional out-of-pocket costs not covered by financial aid associated with these immersions, including travel to Illinois.
